Dispatcher - Commercial & Residential Relocation, Maryland

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate daily moving schedules, assign crews and trucks, and ensure jobs run on time. The Dispatcher serves as the communication hub between customers, drivers, movers, and management to support smooth, efficient moves and high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule and dispatch moving crews, drivers, and trucks for daily and upcoming jobs
Coordinate routes, start times, and job details (addresses, access notes, special items, parking restrictions, etc.)
Communicate with customers to confirm arrival windows, updates, delays, and change
Monitor job progress throughout the day and adjust schedules as needed due to traffic, weather, job overruns, or cancellations
Provide crews with accurate work orders, contact info, and instructions
Track truck availability, equipment needs (dollies, pads, straps), and supply usage
Maintain accurate records of schedules, crew hours, job notes, and completed moves
Handle incoming calls, texts, and emails from customers and field teams
Resolve issues in real time (missing items, customer concerns, access problems) and escalate when necessary
Support coordination of long-distance moves, storage moves, and deliveries as applicable
Assist with end-of-day closeout: job completion confirmations, time sheets, and next-day planning
This is not a typical 9-to-5 role. Dispatch hours may start early and run late depending on the day’s moves, and may include weekends and peak-season overtime. Flexibility is required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Prior dispatching, logistics, scheduling, or moving industry experience preferred
Strong communication and customer service skills; calm under pressure
Excellent organization and time management; able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick decisions
Proficiency with phones, email, and scheduling software (experience with CRM/dispatch systems is a plus)
Basic knowledge of local geography and routing is preferred
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional weekends during busy season
