Sales Manager, Freight Forwarding (On-Site) -Illinois

Base Compensation: $75,000 - $110,00

About The Job: The Sales Manager is responsible for promoting international freight forwarding and logistics services while managing both new and existing client relationships. This role requires a strong understanding of ocean and air freight, along with operational experience in logistics. The position supports a company with a long-standing global presence, offering customized logistics solutions across air, ocean, and supply chain services. Services include specialized capabilities such as temperature-controlled shipping, warehousing, distribution, and end-to-end logistics solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prospect, and engage potential clients using effective sales strategies

  • Develop and grow both new and existing customer accounts to drive revenue

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets and performance goals

  • Understand client needs and recommend tailored logistics solutions

  • Present and propose freight and supply chain solutions to customers

  • Coordinate internally to ensure client requirements are met efficiently

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships

  • Respond to client inquiries and communications in a timely, professional manner

  • Schedule and attend client meetings as needed

  • Manage inbound leads and business opportunities

  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred

  • At least 2 years of sales experience within logistics or freight forwarding

  • Knowledge of air freight, ocean freight, and supply chain services

  • Strong business development and negotiation abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • German language skills are a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Regular communication (speaking and listening) is required

  • Frequent use of hands for computer and office tasks

  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching

  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds when necessary

  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and focus adjustment

  • Work environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level
