Freight Forwarding Sales Executive (Commercial Expansion) - DC, MD, VA
Compensation: Base salary up to $120,000+ depending on experience, with potential for first-year profit sharing between $20,000 and $60,000.
Location: In-office role – candidates must be local and willing to work from the office several times per week.
Travel: Frequent local client visits; occasional overnight travel (1–2 times/year).
About the Role
A well-established global logistics provider is expanding into the U.S. commercial market and seeking a high-performing sales executive to lead that growth. This newly created role is ideal for someone with a “hunter” mindset and a strong background in freight forwarding or logistics sales.
The role includes identifying and winning new commercial clients, collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth implementation, and helping shape future sales strategies—including commission structures and team growth.
There is significant potential for this position to evolve into a leadership role, including building and managing a U.S.-based sales team.
Responsibilities
Identify and secure new commercial clients for freight and logistics services
Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to drive revenue and profitability
Conduct regular business development meetings and manage a sales pipeline
Stay informed about industry trends and company service offerings
Collaborate closely with operations to ensure smooth service delivery
Help define commission structures and share insights from industry peers
Support the onboarding process for new clients
Qualifications
5+ years of successful B2B sales experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation services
Demonstrated ability to exceed revenue targets and drive business growth
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Bachelor’s degree required
