Base Compensation: $75,000 - $100,00 (w/ commission structures for brokerage and asset based services )
About the Role
An asset-based logistics company based in Illinois is seeking an experienced Account Executive to expand its customer base and drive growth through strategic sales and relationship management. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of acquiring, servicing, and retaining clients, with a transferable book of business and a strong understanding of freight transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Manage Customer Base: Prospect, secure, and maintain a strong portfolio of customers within the transportation and logistics sector.
Focus on targeted lanes, commodities, new markets, and contract opportunities to achieve sustainable growth.
Customer Acquisition and Relationship Management: Identify and engage prospective customers with an emphasis on specialized equipment and customized logistics solutions.
Build long-term, trust-based relationships that promote repeat business and client satisfaction.
Customized and Integrated Solutions: Assess customer needs and design tailored logistics solutions to meet service requirements and performance expectations.
Ensure service offerings align with client demands through proactive communication and reliable execution.
Rate Presentation and Negotiation: Develop and present competitive pricing proposals.
Negotiate terms and agreements to secure profitable, long-term partnerships.
Cradle-to-Grave Service: Manage the full sales lifecycle—from initial prospecting through delivery and post-sale support.
Maintain high service standards and resolve customer issues promptly to ensure ongoing satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 2+ years of proven experience in logistics and freight sales. Experience managing any of the following freight types: Full Truckload (FTL), Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), dry van, temperature-controlled, hazmat, and over-dimensional freight. Demonstrated success in cradle-to-grave service and customer retention. Existing, transferable portfolio of active customers.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with sales and logistics tools such as ZoomInfo, DAT, TruckStop, TMS platforms, and Google Sheets.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid, From The Illinois Office
Occasional travel required for customer meetings and events.
